Nerve is the newest bar and lounge in Bandra and it is located opposite marks and spencer on Hill Road.
It has replaced Rude Lounge and is split over 3 levels.
The place is an all in one, multi-use space with one level for private events and parties, conferences and gatherings, one as a bar space with a dance floor and the rooftop level with a more quiet restaurant.
The menu has a variety of cuisines and even features some interesting fusion food.
There is also an extensive menu of cocktails and mocktails.
From what I tasted I’d say Nerve serves some good Indian food but the Chinese and Continental have either been placed as fusion dishes or have been modified as per client palate.
Amongst the starters the Fish Fingers with lemon mayo and the Murg Kali Mirch were some that stood out.
The restaurant serves some good salads too. They had a simple prawn cocktail and a Chicken and Pineapple salad laid out which were all simply and tastefully done.
I also enjoyed the Tangy Hot Chilly Potato, it reminded me of a Kung Pao but without the cashews. The potatoes were cut into fingers and served with a sweet-spicy sauce.
In the main course I enjoyed the Chicken Makhanwala, Dal Tadka and Makhni Dal. There was a fresh selection of rotis to go with it, all of which were hot and perfectly prepared.
The Thai Curry and Vegetable Au Gratin can’t be called authentic but at the same time I couldn’t say they tasted bad at all.
Overall I’d say the food is tasty and reasonably priced. On the other hand I think the Lounge has room for improvement on some fronts. The Sangria is definitely not a winner in its current condition. It was way too adulterated with juice and even had a strange fizz to it. Even the other cocktails weren’t too good. The flavours were indistinct and everything tasted very adulterated.
As an architecture student I’m also very picky about ambiance. Nerve is a restaurant split between 3 levels making each space small. Lighting is key in a situation like this. Unfortunately, in my opinion the coloured lighting and dingy atmosphere wasn’t exactly working out and could use some working upon.
Nerve is offering some good deals currently. They are offering a flat 20% discount on your food and beverage bill and yes, that includes alcoholic beverages too.
Their prices are competitive and food is worth a shot. Of all the three spaces I think the rooftop lounge and restaurant is the best so if you want to dine in go straight up.
